Two consecutive quarters of slow growth have proven that the dooms day predictions are premature. As much as the MSM wants a recession it can pin on the Bush Administration and use as leverage in the November election, the strength of the American economy continues to assuage their dreams.
In another blow to the MSM plot, consumer spending is up 4/10% in March. While there are some financial markers that are negative, they can be attributed to natural market corrections. How will the rest of the economy shake out? That has yet to be seen, after all, tell people the same lie long enough and it will become the truth. The MSM prophesied recession has become even more elusive. Reports for the first quarter show an end to the slide in jobs, an upturn in the stock market, and a positive outlook for the economy ahead. Add to that the support of foreign markets and we may avoid a recession altogether.

Growth is reckoned at 0.6% in 1st quarter, not a decline in GDP as projected. This indicates we are NOT in a recession. |
